For almost as long, Girl Scouts has fostered the same ideals in younger girls. Together preparing girls for college, for life, for all they hope to become. Zeta Xi sponsors numerous Girl Scout troops. Not only do we help them earn badges and sell Girl Scout cookies on the Rollins campus, but also organize arts and crafts sessions, cookie bake offs, and sleepovers for our troops. This year, we invited the girl scouts to our National Women's Friendship Day celebration and taught them how to scrapbook! We are currently planning a tea party where we will teach the girls proper etiquette and can't wait to host them in our first annual garden party!
Prevent Child Abuse America
Since 1981, all collegiate chapters and many alumnae associations participate in Kappa Delta's Shamrock event held annually in the spring. The groups choose their own fund-raising activities, and 80 percent of the total is donated to local child abuse prevention agencies with the other 20 percent donated to PCA America. Zeta Xi s biggest philanthropy, the Mr. Shamrock male beauty pageant, is held annually to raise money for Prevent Child Abuse America. Men from numerous fraternities and on-campus organizations compete for the title of Mr. Shamrock. Contestants participate in formal wear and talent competitions, and the event is always full of excitement and fun! In addition, there will be a week long competition, where contestants will compete in a swimwear show, wing eating contest, trivia, and flour fight!
Children's Hospital of Richmond, Virginia
In 1921, Kappa Delta made a commitment to support a 2-bed, fledgling clinic operated by William Tate Graham, M.D. He was renowned for his revolutionary approaches. A pioneer in treating polio victims, he never turned any patient away for inability to pay. Now Children's Hospital treats all children's problems and still turns away no one for financial reasons. Kappa Delta's support continues--donating funds which have gone to build an operating room and develop a clinic. The sorority is a primary sustaining supporter of the hospital and Kappa Deltas serve on its governing boards. Our chapter raises money for the Children s Hospital of Richmond, Virginia through the sale of Kappa Delta Christmas seals, the generous financial contributions from our alumnae, and the hosting of many fundraising events. Recent contributions have gone to the development of a motion clinic, the purchasing of hospital equipment, medical braces, neurosurgical instruments, playground equipment and vans to transport patients.
American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons Research Awards
Three awards of $20,000 are given annually to recognize outstanding research in orthopedics and to enable researchers to continue their efforts. First presented in 1950, the awards have grown in stature to become known as the Nobel Prize of Orthopedics Research, and one of the most coveted awards in this field. To date over 1.1 million dollars in awards have been given.

Local Philanthropies
In 2005, Kappa Delta participated in a Halloween drive for the children affected by hurricane Katrina. Kappa Delta chapters nation-wide participated in this worthy campaign titled "Let KiDs be KiDs." We also donated teddy bears to the children of local law enforcement agencies. Furthermore, we ran a booth at the College's annual Halloween Howl event- thanks to the hard work of our sisters, the Cupcake Walk was a huge success! In past years Kappa Delta has held a teddy bear drive for the children of Iraq, a shoe drive, and a clothing drive for the Mustard Seed Foundation. We have also participated in the Share-a-Meal program for the Ronald McDonald House, the Maitland Historical Society s Benefit Auction, and the Halloween Howl Trick-or-Treat event. Furthermore, in an effort to make a difference in the community during the holiday season, Kappa Deltas donated canned goods to participate in the highl
